Stainless vs. White Goalie Mask Cages
Stainless-Steel Cages
Stainless cages provide a traditional metallic finish and make it easy to inspect the bars for bending, corrosion or impact damage.
White-Coated Cages
White cages can visually blend with white ice and boards for some goalies. The coating should be inspected for chips, cracks and exposed metal.
Finish preference should come after compatibility, certification and structural condition.
When Should a Goalie Mask Cage Be Replaced?
Replace a cage when it no longer remains straight, secure or structurally sound.

Lexan throat protectors, often called danglers, hang from the mask cage to add suspended coverage below the chin.
