The skate size and holder size are related but should not be assumed to be identical. Check the existing holder marking whenever possible.
TRUE SHIFT ATTACK Replacement Steel
TRUE SHIFT ATTACK goalie holders use removable runners designed specifically for that holder system. Available options may include stainless steel and DLC-coated runners in selected sizes.
TRUE replacement steel may be available in three-millimetre and selected four-millimetre widths. Width must match the holder and skate generation.
Do not assume that three-millimetre and four-millimetre steel can be exchanged in the same holder. Confirm the exact holder specification before ordering.
CCM XSG Goalie Steel
CCM SPEEDBLADE XSG holders use goalie-specific replacement runners. The collection may include STEP steel designed for compatible XSG holders.
Confirm:
- The skate uses the CCM XSG goalie holder
- The runner size matches the holder size
- The steel width is correct
- The attachment points are clean and undamaged
Player-skate STEP steel is not a substitute for goalie-specific XSG runners.

DLC and Titanium-Coated Steel

Use a stone specifically intended for coated or black steel. An aggressive conventional stone can scratch or remove the coating along the sides of the runner.
Carrying Backup Goalie Steel
Backup runners can be useful during tournaments, travel and frequent practice schedules. A damaged edge or broken runner can otherwise end an ice session.
A backup set should:
- Match the exact holder and size
- Use the goalie’s preferred sharpening
- Be stored dry
- Be protected from contact with other steel

Drying and Cleaning Goalie Skate Steel
