The Nash Rubber Skate Stone is designed for minor edge maintenance on black-coated and high-gloss skate steel. Unlike a conventional abrasive stone that may mark or remove a blade coating, the rubber format is intended to address small burrs and nicks while being gentler on the steel’s finished surface.
Nash rubber skate stone features
- Coated-steel application: Intended for black and high-gloss skate runners that require careful surface handling.
- Rubber construction: Provides a less aggressive option than a standard hard sharpening stone.
- Minor burr removal: Helps smooth small edge imperfections that can appear after blade contact.
- Compact rink-bag tool: Easy to keep with spare steel, skate guards and sharpening accessories.
- Goalie and player use: Suitable for compatible coated skate steel regardless of position.
- Finish-conscious maintenance: Designed to remove the burr rather than intentionally grind away the blade coating.
How to use the rubber skate stone
Dry the blade and inspect the edge before use. Apply light, controlled pressure only to the affected area and avoid repeated aggressive rubbing. Afterward, wipe the runner clean and check that the edge remains even. Store steel dry and protected so blades do not strike each other or contact loose metal objects in the equipment bag.
Important: A skate stone does not replace professional sharpening and cannot repair a deeply damaged, bent or cracked runner. Improper use can affect the edge. Have uncertain blade damage assessed by an experienced skate technician.
