How Should Goalie Knee Pads Fit?
The central knee cup should remain positioned directly over the kneecap. The thigh section should extend upward to reduce the opening beneath the goalie pants, while the lower section should protect the knee and upper calf without reaching excessively far into the leg pad.
During fitting, check that:
- The kneecap remains centred inside the guard
- The thigh protection covers the opening above the leg pad
- The straps are secure without restricting circulation
- The guard does not rotate around the leg
- The sections bend naturally with the knee

Goalie pants should overlap the top of the knee guards without pushing them downward. The pant legs must also provide enough room for the guards to move freely.
Pants that are too tight around the knee protection can:
